Monel alloy is a copper-nickel alloy, with nickel as the matrix, and copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and other elements added to the base. It is a Ni-Cu alloy in the nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloy. As the name suggests, it nominally contains 70% nickel and 30% copper. It is the most widely used alloy in the manufacture of valves, pumps, distillation towers, nuclear industry, oil storage tanks, etc. Monel alloy has good corrosion resistance to strong alkali, reducing acid and seawater and other media, and has high toughness and strength.
Monel alloy is divided into two categories: casting alloy and forging alloy (rolled material). Here we only introduce Monel alloy for casting.
Chemical composition and properties of Monel casting alloy
There are 5 grades of American cast Monel alloy in ASTM A494 standard, see the following table for details

Among them, the monel alloy with the grade M35-1 has the most moderate carbon and silicon content. It is the most commonly used monel alloy for casting in the valve casting industry. Its casting performance and mechanical properties can be used for casting the main parts of valves. It is usually used in valves that require high strength, good air tightness, mechanical wear resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, such as hydrofluoric acid, fluorine gas, strong alkalinity, etc. M35-1 is cast by sand casting, investment casting, composite casting or other casting processes, and the castings are delivered in the cast state. The monel alloys with the grades M25S and M30H are mainly used as wear-resistant monel alloy parts.
M35-1 physical properties:
Density: 8.63 t/m3 (at 20℃);
Melting temperature: 1315~1345℃;
Pouring temperature (reference): 1480~1565℃;
Shrinkage porosity of alloy liquid during casting: 6.075%;
Free shrinkage rate during solidification: 2.1%;
Coefficient of thermal expansion: 12.9 μm/m·k (25℃);
Conductivity-resistivity: 533×10-9 Ω/m
Application areas of M35-1 Monel alloy:

In the media of fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and their derivatives, petroleum distillation towers, marine heat exchangers, seawater desalination equipment, salt production equipment, propeller shafts and water pumps, uranium refining in the nuclear industry, isotope fission, aerospace, aviation, nuclear power and coal chemical industry, etc.

Mone is mainly composed of nickel , copper , some iron and other trace elements.

Monel valves, such A494 M35-1, are often used in the most demanding alkylation applications. Monel valves are often used as chemical valves, petrochemical valves, desalination valves, shipbuilding valves, oil and gas valves, medical valves, and oxygen valves. There are many types of Monel valves, such as Monel 400, N04400, Monel 401, N04401, Monel 404, N04404, Monel K-500, N05500, Monel R-405, and N04405.
